OFFICINE CREATIVE The creative workshop Since its inception in 1998, the brainchild of Roberto Di Rosa , the Officine Creative manifesto has been to offer traditionally crafted artisanal footwear and leather goods fused with a modern unorthodox design aesthetic. Dynamic, high quality beautiful products that evoke nostalgic memories of a long lost time when craftsmanship was paramount , a sensibility often lost In today’s fast fashion consumerism and industrialised mass market mentality. Driven by innovation, but not bound by convention , these complex layers of history are transformed and enriched to create something special with a new modernist edge. Natural horsehides, over-dyed Buffalo and organic Vachetta are typical of the skins utilised and transforming these raw organic materials into wearable sculptures is at the heart of each Officine Creative product. A wrinkle in the face, a scar, all evocative characteristics conveying a source of experience and life are skilfully captured and recreated using this specialist ‘Leather Time Machine’ giving each product evidence of a human, hand made experience channeled through into the finished products that has to be touched to be fully appreciated. An incredible amount of strenuous research and time consuming experimentation goes into the many processes that make up the complex DNA of each creation.Meticulous last modification , superior construction techniques and never ending leather research result in a product that reflects a true mastery in the Art form of shoemaking. With Roberto’s brother Luca and cousin Paolo joining the design team in 2006, this now internationally renowned collective of forward thinking individuals seek to produce a beautiful tactile experience Experimenting with the juxtaposition of contrasting materials is the epitome of the OC ethos, one that connects traditional workmanship with a new avant garde artisanal sensibility.
